“When I was a child, people sat around kitchen tables & told their stories. Sitting around the table telling stories is not just a way of passing the time. It is the way wisdom gets passed along.” Rachel Remen

A Day Workshop and Retreat for Therapists
Thursday 30th October 2025
Nature • Jungian Mandala • Shadow & Light
With Susan McHugh & Victoria Camplin-Welch
We warmly invite you to take a break from the therapy room and join us in nature to experience a unique fusion of eco-art therapy and Jungian mandala work. Spend a day in a private and tranquil setting, nestled in the Matakana hills.
This day is for professional women who offer therapeutic services to others to rest, reconnect with self and nature, and explore inner landscapes. Whether attending for personal growth, professional development, or both, you will discover how these approaches can foster wholeness and integration, and provide powerful nonverbal pathways for reflection and healing. In an intentional and intimate container, we will explore and reflect on unfamiliar aspects within, and how these inform our personal life and therapeutic work.
“The path home is not forward but inward.” J Mike Fields

What to Expect
Nature Connection
Ground in sensory awareness and embodied presence through guided
invitations in nature, and through working with natural elements. Eco-art, as an holistic approach, helps us identify with the natural world and our intrinsic relationship with nature. Through this work, we remember that we are nature, and that as stewards of this treasure, we stay in harmony with nature.
Experience how nature-based practices soothe and restore the nervous system, expanding our capacity for attunement and this awareness.
There is an overwhelming body of research that consistently shows how
exposure to the natural world can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, a sense of stability and increase creativity and connection to source. Explore how you might take this into your therapeutic work.
“To walk in a wild place is to enter …wonder and discovery, where each step is an invitation to reconnect with the deeper currents of your life.”
Robert Macfarlane
Jungian Mandala Practice
Work experientially with natural elements to create a mandala as a living symbol of the psyche and soul. This creative process offers a pathway to unconscious material, facilitating the integration of shadow aspects – those parts that may be hidden, denied or repressed, both dark and light. Jung believed true healing and growth begin when we reconnect with our inner world and with the sacred. Creating mandalas invites us to pause, to feel held, and to connect with our deepest source. It grounds us in the present moment, enabling us to listen more carefully to what’s quietly blooming within.
The day’s process provides tools to integrate nature-based practices with
traditional therapeutic approaches and will enrich both a personal and
professional practice.
“Only in our creative acts do we step forth into the light and see ourselves whole and complete.’’ C.G. Jung
Therapeutic Community
A small group of 6–8 women therapists offers safety, intimacy, and shared reflection. Together, we will weave personal growth with professional dialogue.
Individual Integration Session
Each participant is offered an individual follow-up session after the day, to support integration, and the application of the experience into a work context.

A Warm Invitation to Our Retreat
There is a deep source of vitality, wisdom and creativity within each of us. Amid life’s demands, this inner source can become obscured. This retreat offers a sacred pause, a space to reconnect with what lies within, gently held by nature and the ancient symbol of the mandala. In a small, supportive circle of women, guided by facilitators who are former psychologists, you are invited into a creative journey of self-discovery.
Mandala
At the heart of the retreat is the practice of mandala creation using natural materials, as a pathway to your inner world, and what is unfolding at the time. Mandalas have appeared across cultures and millennia as symbols of wholeness and transformation. When we create them with awareness and purpose, they become a powerful container for reflection and change.
Nature
The tranquil Bali Garden offers the opportunity to come into relationship with nature as a holding space, with heart and equanimity. Connecting with nature, especially with intention and presence, brings a myriad of benefits, emotionally, physiologically and spiritually. Through guided sensory awareness, you will ground, awaken your senses, and rest your nervous system.
Working with mandalas and nature together can bring you into profound connection through what Jung termed the personal and ‘collective unconscious’, dissolving the artificial boundaries between yourself and nature. Through this work, we remember that we are nature, that we share the same elements as
those of the natural world.
What to expect:
🍃A nourishing and safe space to create, explore and discover
🍃Creation of a personal mandala from natural materials that reflects
your inner world
🍃Meeting unacknowledged aspects of yourself
🍃Reclaiming energy held in these hidden parts
🍃Connecting with your essential self, your enduring core
This retreat is about gently meeting yourself, opening to the unknown, to finding your own resources and to being witnessed. You may discover parts of yourself that have been buried or neglected, including your shadow which when integrated fosters a more authentic connection with the fullness of your psyche and the potential to flourish. Through mandala-making, we honour all of it.

What you’ll take home:
🍃A reflection of where you are on your unfolding journey
🍃A renewed sense of purpose and possibilities
🍃A creative practice for grounding, guidance & development
Let the mandala be your map.
Let nature be your guide.
Let the circle of women remind you: you are supported on your journey.
